Location:

Scope:

Construction of roads, drainage and utilities infrastructure for Stage 2 Subdivision Macarthur Heights Project including bulk earthworks and demolition within stage 3.

Summary:

The Macarthur Heights Estates is situated between the WSU Campbelltown Campus, the M5 motorway and Menangle Rail corridor. This was the 2nd consecutive stage of the development completed by TRN Group. The work included bulk earthworks within the highly undulating terrain to the north of stage 1. The major challenge was the existing dam and interconnected subsurface creek which created an unsuitable fill platform. This stage also included the installation of a large drainage bypass line central to the low point in the site. Similarly to stage 1 this contract included a novated retaining wall component along with the delivery of all other civil infrastructure being sewer, water, electrical, comms, drainage and roadways. This stage was situated adjacent to WSU student accommodation which brought further challenges to the project.

Innovation:

Utilisation of a granular bridging layer to resolve unsuitable fill area. Use of precast pits within trunk drainage line to de-risk the pit construction to weather and enable greater efficiency.
